The Role of the Hybrid Developer in the Era of AI_
I see a lot of panic when people talk about AI, and I can’t deny that I feel that fear too. But I can’t just stay there.
My job today is to learn, adapt, and evolve.
I can say that I am currently working in a much broader field than I ever imagined. AI forces me to think as a Product Owner, Developer, and Customer Success representative all at the same time.
Today, for example, I had to fix a bug in Kunto that was directly affecting users. A simple client selector was failing and causing a huge issue.
And that’s when I understood something important:
Thanks to AI, I can now build, debug, and deploy much faster. But that’s not the most valuable part. The most valuable thing is the time it gives back to me to talk to real users, understand what they need, and see how they use my products.
Before, my focus was solely frontend, mobile, or fullstack.
Today, I feel those labels are no longer enough.
I don’t even know if “developer” completely describes what we do now. We are entering an era where the role is much more hybrid: building, understanding the business, listening to users, and executing fast.
And to me, that is what’s truly revolutionary.
That there is now a much more direct channel between the person who uses the product and the person who builds it.
And I’m experiencing all of this while building Kunto.
